Build Bat Houses at Congress Avenue Bridge

This Halloween, things are getting batty down at the Congress Avenue Bridge. You can celebrate Austin’s favorite flying creature, Mexican free-tailed bats, in a very un-spooky way — by building bat houses from 11 .m. – 2 p.m.!

On October 31, bat house-building events are being held all over North America in attempt of achieving a world record to build the largest number of bat houses in one day. Let’s show ’em what Austin’s got!

Join in the fun at 11 a.m. with Bat Conservation International at Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge Bat Viewing Area. Friendly bat experts will lead the bat house-building event. There will also be bat presentations from experts, batty stalls from our sponsors and the chance to meet live bats. No woodworking experience is necessary, and this event is perfect for kids and their adult helpers.

–> Register to Participate: If you’d like to build a bat house at the event, please click here to register. The cost is $25 which includes all building materials for a single chamber bat house that is yours to take home!

For more information about this event, you can visit the Bat Conservation International website.

Have fun!
