Summer Camp at the Expedition School

If you’re looking for a camp where your kids can get rowdy (but safe) in the great outdoors, then you need to check out the Expedition School. Located in East Austin next to Fiesta Gardens, the camp not only provides the opportunity for kids to kayak, canoe and SUP, but kids will also learn important lessons like how to protect the environment, along with safety instruction and medical training like CPR and basic first aid.

56th Annual Zilker Summer Musical – Oklahoma!

Zilker Theatre Productions present its 56th Annual Zilker Summer Musical – Oklahoma! Catch it this Friday, July 11 at 8:30 pm at the Zilker Hillside Theater for free (though donations are greatly appreciated)! The production will then run through the weekend and continue every Thursday – Sunday evening until Saturday, Aug. 16.

Book Buddies Program at Town Lake Animal Center

The only thing cuter than cats are little elementary school kids reading to cats. The sauce on top of all that awesome is the kids’ exposure to the no-kill shalter environment and their chance to do some meaningful summer reading at the Town Lake Animal Center’s Feline Leukemia Cat Sanctuary.

Khabele + Strong Incubator to open at Casa de Luz

Khotso Khabele, founder of the Khabele School, and Michael Strong, a long time educator who promotes social entrepreneurship and the importance of Socratic discussions, have teamed up to bring a new type of school to Austin. The Khabele + Strong Incubator will open for grades 6 – 12 for the 2014 – 2015 school year at Casa de Luz. The incubator will help kids ace their SAT’s while they complete Advanced Placement courses and hone in on what makes them amazing!
