Sherwood Forest Faire – Review

Despite having lived in the hill country for years, I’ve never been to one of the period festivals held in this area every year. This past weekend I had a chance to bring my family out to the Sherwood Forest Faire and it was awesome.

Illuminate Austin: A Walk for Safe Families

Walk with purpose this Saturday, Feb. 22 at Illuminate Austin: A Walk for Safe Families from 4:30 – 8 pm at Mueller Lake Park Outdoor AmphitheaterBring your whole family and join together as a community for an early evening stroll through the park, along a path lined with beautiful luminarias. This fun, family-friendly event benefits SafePlace, which provides shelter and essential services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Austin. A registration fee is not required, but a $20 donation is welcomed and appreciated.

ZACH Theater Presents: The Cat in the Hat

it’s time to grab your Thing One and Thing Two and head to the Zach Theatre for their presentation of Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat, premiering on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 pm. Join Sally and her brother as that infamous cat and his sidekicks stir up mischief and trouble in the classic tale, based on the beloved book and adapted by Katie Mitchell. Shows Fridays at 6:30 pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am and 2 pm through May 3. Tickets $16 for adults and $14 for youth.

East Austin College Prep Open House Recap

After two cancellations due to inclement weather, the elementary East Austin College Prep campus finally had its open house last Thursday, Feb. 13. Do512 Family editor, Jamie Jett, is an East Austin resident and her curiosity was piqued. So she went to the open house and took some notes to share.
