Lucky news, Austinites, we now have a brand new indoor climbing gym in South Austin! Crux Climbing Center is a locally-owned 22,000 square foot facility stocked with rope climbing, bouldering, and strength training areas, a flex space for fitness and yoga classes, locker rooms, a kids’ area, and a lounge space. You can plan to check it out at the big Grand Opening event on Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. – 11 p.m.

At the Grand Opening, you can score a day pass for only $5! Plus, the day is packed with climbing competitions, DJ, face painting, photo booth, live t-shirt screen-printing, vendor village, silent auction, blood drive, and more.

13100885_1163402443690488_1350279372676081420_nAt the Grand Opening event there will be several competitions, including three friendly competitions in speed, dyno and pull-up that are free entry to all members or guests that have purchased a day pass. There will also be more advanced competitions throughout the day. You can click here for all the details.

The folks behind Crux Climbing Center have designed this space to be much more than a gym—it’s a place where you can form a community. With that in mind, you can bet that they included a special area for kids. The Panda-monium Room is designed for climbers 12 and under, and it’s a fantastic option for kids’ birthdays and other events. Outfitted with a slide, fireman’s pole, and of course a climbing wall, this room can keep even the most energetic, inquisitive kids entertained for hours on end.
