One item on our personal summer bucket list was to drive out to Dripping Springs to check out the giant outdoor entertainment space, Dreamland. With mini golf, pickleball, disc golf, a splash pad and more, we had been hearing great things about this oasis of fun in the Texas Hill Country. And, y’all, it is a blast! Read on for all the details about our experience to help you plan your future visit.Located on 64 acres of land out in Dripping Springs, Dreamland is an expansive wide-open outdoor venue that offers a variety of sports, an amphitheater for concerts and movie screenings, food trucks, a bar, and also features stunning large-scale works of art scattered around the entire property. It’s very unique and colorful, and definitely built upon a vision of dreams.
As for activities, you have plenty to choose from to appeal to all ages! Our family is very keen on mini golf, so that was our focus on the day. You can opt to tackle the “Dream Course” decorated with a nod to Willy Wonka with Ompah Loompahs at every hole to delight the kids. But Dreamland also boasts one of the country’s most challenging miniature golf courses. The “Challenge Course” is an 18-hole course with three difficulty levels, creating 54 unique holes that range from par 2 to par 5, and it’s also one of the longest mini-golf courses in the US. Click here for mini golf pricing. Reservations are not required. You can just show up, pay for whichever course you choose, and play!
Another huge aspect of Dreamland is pickleball! They have four premium weather-protected, lighted pickleball courts, which gives a fun way to get active, and it’s great for any age or skill level. Courts can be reserved ahead of time to ensure availability before you go.
To help the kids keep cool, Dreamland also offers a splash pad that is entirely free to use. Located next to a large covered beer garden that includes a small playscape and plenty of picnic tables, grownups can sip on beer or wine from their expansive taproom that features 90 self-pour taps and get bites from the food trucks while the kids splash and play.
Plus, there is even more for kiddos! Play bocce, cornhole, and other fun lawn games. Other family activities include Sunday Bingo in the beer garden, and Thursday Moo-vie Madness, where guests can lounge on the turf lawn to watch classics like Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Toy Story.
Also take note that the first Saturday of every month is Kids Day. Kids can enjoy various activities such as henna tattoos, barrel train, face painting, balloon art, and a petting zoo. Guests can purchase Kids Day tickets at the Welcome Center on the day of the event, with each activity ranging from 1-3 tickets (each ticket costs $1). Kids with the same birthday as the month of the event will receive a special wristband to enjoy the activities for free.
You can visit Dreamland free of charge and just pay for the activities, food or drinks that you wish to enjoy. It’s also a rather impressive spot just to walk around and see the artwork. You’ll find monumental sculptures along with repurposed rain water collection tanks, and mosaic tile installations. Something worth noting before you go…each artwork was chosen to tie into the theme of “the American Dream” with a goal to uplift spirits and celebrate our common humanity. Give a closer look at each piece of art when you’re there to see how it connects to you.
Of course, Dreamland is certainly not just for children, but also really for any kid-at-heart of any age. There are plenty of live concerts scheduled for their outdoor stage, and their tap room is certainly a fun spot for any happy hour! Keep track of all the happenings at Dreamland by checking the calendar of events on their website and following their social media accounts (@dreamlanddstx) for the latest news.
