Do512 Family - What to do in Austin with Kids

Family Fun at STAPLE! Independent Media Expo

Since 2005, STAPLE! has been bringing the best of independently produced comics, zines, art, crafts, games and more to fans in Austin. And you can check out this indie media expo for yourself at the Marchesa Hall on Saturday, Mar. 7 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 8 from 12-6 p.m. This family-friendly convention invites you to bring the kids (ages 12 and under are free!) and meet over 150 exhibitors of comics, zines, art, crafts and games. If your children enjoy drawing and making their own comics, they will surely enjoy meeting these creative artists in person.

Kids can enjoy:

  • Make-your-own zine demos
  • Indie table top game demos
  • Collectable items, such as pins
  • Live screen printing
  • Plus, costumes are encouraged!

Another cool element to this year’s show is the focus on female creators. STAPLE! has made sure their list of panelists includes some amazingly talented women in the comics industry.
