The French Legation is a hidden gem in east Austin, with spacious grounds and a beautiful historic house. This summer they are hosting Family Fun Summer Saturdays – guided tours of the house and detached kitchen are $5 per person and kids under 5 are free. Tour times are 1:15 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm.

In addition, you can enjoy special outdoor kid-friendly programming. This weekend the theme is Marble Madness. Kids will make their own set of clay marbles while learning how to play the marble game, Ringer.

On alternating Saturdays throughout the summer, come back for more special programs, like:

  • July 5: Design and create your own bubble wands and see who can create the biggest bubbles.
  • July 19: Celebrate Bastille Day and all things French, including lessons on how to play petanque.
  • August 2: Build and fly your own kite.
  • August 16: 19th century field day! Learn the Game of Graces, play hoops and challenge your family to a sack race.

Have fun!
