The big day is almost here! Halloween Week is now in full-swing, and we’re ready to max out our costumes at as many Halloween parties and events as we can. Here’s a round-up of fun Halloween events through the weekend.
Wednesday, Oct. 28:
— Halloween Story Time with Bernadette Nason @ Lake Travis Community Library
Wednesday, October 28, 4 p.m.
Enjoy a special spooky story time with our favorite storyteller. Free!
— Family Fest @ Hyde Park Baptist Church
Wednesday, October 28, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
At Family Fest you will find such activities as…..carnival games, petting zoo, go karts, obstacle course, sports activities, face painting, concessions, prizes and more. This is a free event.
Thursday, Oct. 29:
— Pumpkin Parade with Staci Gray @ Lake Travis Community Library
Thursday, October 29, 10:30 a.m.
Wear your costume and come to the library for the annual Pumpkin Parade. Staci Gray will perform, then we’ll parade around the library. Trick or Treat!
— Glow-in-the-Dark Costume Dance Party @ Yarborough Library
Fun at the Austin Public Library for ages 5 and up. Free.
— 21st Annual Halloween Festival and Hayride @ San Gabriel Park
Thursday, Oct. 29, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
The Festival will be held inside the Community Center. Admission is free, but each booth or activity charges a fee to participate. Hayrides will load outside the Community Center, with the first ride leaving at at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales will STOP at 8 p.m. but all tickets sold will be honored. Tickets will be $1 for children ages 1-4 years and $2 for everyone else (ages 5 – adult). The Hayride is not scary – it is a friendly hay ride through the park with Halloween themed decorations, aimed towards younger children. Then you can watch Disney’s Halloweentown (PG) at 6:45 pm at the Gazebo in San Gabriel Park. Bring your own refreshments.
— Trunk or Treat @ Leander High School
Thursday, October 29, 6-9 p.m.
Admission is $4/person that supports the LHS Cheerleaders. Candy and a haunted hallway for little monsters starting at 6 p.m. and for big monsters starting at 7 p.m.
— Movies in the Park: BeetleJuice @ Republic Square Park
Thursday, Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m.
Kick off your Halloween weekend with this spooky, off-beat classic. Costumes welcome! The fall season of Movies in the Park series continues with this celebration of the Ghost with the Most himself – BEETLEJUICE! Head over to Republic Square Park just before sunset for a screening of this film, co-produced by Austin Parks Foundation and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s Rolling Roadshow. FREE!

Friday, October 30, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Whether you come dressed as a paleontologist, superhero, princess, or a buzzing bee you will love doing spooky science with us! The evening’s spooktastic line up includes exploding pumpkins, vomiting pumpkins and smoking pumpkins, Thriller dance lessons, owl pellet dissections, glow-in-the-dark slime, a costume contest and more. Tickets are $11-$15 and can be purchased online here.
— Creative Action Kids’ Ball @ Central Market North Lamar
Friday, October 30, 5-8 p.m. Update: This event has been cancelled due to rain.
You’re invited to this free, interactive event with treats, kid and family-friendly activities, and dancing as we celebrate kindness, strengths, treasures, and creativity! Build your own costume or wear your own and add to the fun! White Ghost Shivers will perform. Free event!
— Spooktacular @ The Bullock Museum
Friday, October 30, 5-8 p.m.
Explore the Bullock after hours at this family-friendly Halloween extravaganza, featuring performances, games, interactive activities, art, and more. This year’s program will introduce children and their families to Texas “creepy crawlies” through activities and special screenings of Flight of the Butterflies in the IMAX Theatre. Get hands-on with spooky science from Girlstart and show off your Halloween costume for a special prize. Free event!
— Sinister Circus Halloween Carnival @ Northwest Recreation Center
Friday, October 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Come one come all, step right up to the main event of the year under the Northwest Big Top! You’ll find everything to have a haunting good time: bounce house, popcorn, carnival games, candy, prizes, a sinister circus trick-or-treat trail and even more Halloween fun! First 10 tickets & endless trips through the Trick-or-Treat Trail are free. Additional tickets for only 25¢.
— Halloween Party on the Plaza @ The Domain II
Friday, October 30, 6-8 p.m.
Join The Domain for a Halloween Party on the Plaza! Enjoy a live performance by Superband, a kids costume parade, face painting, balloon twisting, a pumpkin patch photo opportunity, crafts, games and giveaways. Costumes encouraged. — Boo at the Zoo @ Austin Zoo

Wear a costume, ride the Haunted Train, explore the Haunted House and see the animals by the glow of your flashlight! Austin Zoo will be illuminated and decorated for the occasion. — Ghostly Adventure Tours @ Williamson Museum (Georgetown)
Friday, October 30 & Saturday, October 31 Tour times: 7:30, 8, 8:30 and 9 p.m.
Enjoy the Ghostly Adventure Tours around the “Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas,” with two versions to please both younger children and older thrill-seekers. — 2nd Annual Davidson Family Haunted House
Friday, October 30 & Saturday, October 31 Tour times: 8:30 p.m. each night.

— Halloween Lock-in @ Blazer Tag
Drop the kids (ages 13 and up) off at 11 p.m. on Friday, October 30 and pick them up at 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 31. They can enjoy a whole night of unlimited laser tag, prizes and plenty of fun activities. The Halloween Lock-In costs $21.95, or $16.95 for groups of 10 or more. Saturday, Oct. 31 — Happy Halloween!
— Spooky Skedaddle 5K, 1K Fun Run & Halloween Festival @ Texas School for the Deaf. This event is postponed to Saturday, Nov. 7 due to rain.
Join the fun in your Halloween costume and enjoy races, music, food trucks, trick-or-treating and festival game with proceeds benefitting both the Texas School for the Deaf Foundation and Heal Kenya. Everyone, of all ages — deaf and hearing — is invited. The festival features carnival games from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. with $1 tickets sold on-site. To register for the races, click here
— Steve’s Halloween Spooktacular @ ColdTowne Theater

An improvised, interactive Halloween show for kids and their adults. Wear a costume and become a character in the show. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish at the door.
— Halloween Fun @ North Village Library
October 31, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Come on out for some daytime Halloween fun at the North Village Branch of the Austin Public Library. Costumes encouraged. Crafts, stories, games, and movies.
— Halloween Storytime: Trick or Treat for Books @ BookPeople
Saturday, October 31, 11:30 a.m.
Storytime will be in the amphitheater, featuring stories full of monsters, ghosts, and witches (but none of them will be too scary). Then, after storytime, join the costume parade around the store, and then kids can get their treat — a free book to bring home! This Halloween Party is perfect for witches and wizards ages 7 and under. Free event!
— “Room on the Broom” Storytime @ Barnes & Noble Arboretum
Saturday, October 31, 11 a.m.
Wear your Halloween costumes to this exciting storytime presented by the Paramount Theatre. There will be story-telling, literacy activities, sweet treats, a costume contest, and even a witch-hat craft! Storytime attendees will learn all about the upcoming live-musical, “Room on the Broom” to be performed at the Paramount Theatre in early November. — Halloween Comic Fest @ Titan Moon Comics
