Help Keep Austin Animals Warm

Brrrrr! It’s cold outside! As temperatures drop, our furry animal friends could use some help keeping warm. Please take a look at the call for donations at the Austin Zoo and Austin Pets Alive!, and see if you can lend a hand.

The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is currently seeking blankets for their animals to help them have a comfy winter. Donated blankets, sheets, and towels (used linens are fine) can be dropped off at the Austin Zoo Gift Shop between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. The Austin Zoo also has an Amazon Wish List for other items needed if you’d like to donate even more.

Austin Pets Alive! is currently experiencing trouble because the central heating isn’t working throughout the shelter. If you want to help keep the dogs warm this winter, here are a few ways you can help:

  • Drop off any or all of the following at the Town Lake location: blankets, towels, large and extra large dog sweaters, beds and bones/other chewables to keep the dogs busy
  • Donate to the Winter Fund which will be used exclusively to provide the dogs heat, blankets, etc
  • Sign up to foster — even if it’s just for the holidays. Every animal deserves a warm place to stay at the very least from December 24-26th. If you’re interested in taking someone home for the holidays (or fostering long-term), fill out an application.
