Looking for an inspirational event for your middle to high school aged daughters? Look no further than Imagine X2, a conference for young women. Taking place on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 1 to 5 pm, at the Lake Travis High School Performing Arts Center. The free conference is “centered on the ideas of passionate intellectual development, ethics in the 21st century, and positive self-view.” The event was organized by two 17-year-old girls with the express hope of inspiring other young girls to imagine their potential.
The list of conference speakers is impressive and includes: Wendi Aarons, a local humor writer and blogger; Jamie Amelio, the founder and CEO of Caring for Cambodia; Dr. Terri Givens, Professor of government at the University of Texas; Ariel Herrera, a singer and contestant on American Idol, Barbara Morgan, co-founder of the Austin Film Festival; and Neissa Brown Springmann, founder of iGnite Austin. Read more details about the speakers here.
Registration is free and open until Feb 22. The only requirements to attend are, “two x chromosomes, curiosity, and the willingness to be open to new ideas.” This sounds like an awesome and inspirational new event for young women in the Austin area.
