Quick question — how fast could you show off a photo of your adorable child? We’re betting you’ve got quite a few pics saved on your phone at the ready should anyone want to see them posing in the bluebonnets, singing in that school performance, dressed up on Easter, etc.
Now, how fast could you find a photo of YOURSELF to share and feel proud of? Probably not as easy of a task, right? Moms are usually the ones behind the camera.
Several years ago, there was a popular article by Allison Tate called The Mom Stays in the Picture that spawned a movement about the importance for our kids to see us documented in their daily lives. There’s so much beauty in all the little things we do for our kids, and that should be celebrated, captured and not go unnoticed. Tate writes:
Our sons need to see how young and beautiful and human their mamas were. Our daughters need to see us vulnerable and open and just being ourselves — women, mamas, people living lives.”
With Mother’s Day approaching, we think it’s a great time to remember to capture those moments with your children and cherish the love you have as a mom.
Along with our friends at Hat Creek Burger Company who always keep moms in the forefront of their company’s vision, we present the Keep Mom in the Focus Contest in which three local mamas will be treated to a special family photo shoot. But not only are we giving away sessions with talented local photographers, we are asking YOU to nominate a deserving mom who could benefit from this experience.
Here’s how it works:
- Think of a deserving mama who should win a free family photo session.
- Nominate that mom on Instagram by creating a short post about why she should win and tag @Do512family.
- You (the nominator) must follow Hat Creek, Do512 Family and each of the 3 photographers (noted below) on Instagram.
- Three random winners will be chosen on May 1, 2018 and notified on Instagram.
–> BOTH the winners and nominators will win prizes! Winners will get a complimentary photo session with one of the awesome local photographers listed below, and the nominator will win a Pajama Party at any area Hat Creek (that includes food)!

Photo Session Details: Three winners will be chosen to receive the following:
- 1 hour session at one location in Travis County, does not include drive time.
- Limit 6 people at sitting.
- 10 to 15 high resolution edited photos will be provided with in 30 days of shoot.
- Value $700 (per photo shoot)
- Expiration one year from date of contest.
- Two hour cancellation window based on weather.
