An extra day off might mean sleeping in and lazing around the house without a care. (Sounds good to us). But for those of you eager to get out and do something special, we’ve rounded up a list of ideas for Labor Day in Austin, Monday, September 7, 2015. No matter what you choose, go have a great time and enjoy your extra day of play!
— Take part in the BIGGEST Barton Springs Pool Jump Ever! The Hell Yes Project is celebrating the efforts of the Friends of Barton Springs Pool organization by hosting a huge pool jump at Barton Springs. At 9:30 a.m., you can go to the South Entrance where 500 wristbands for free pool admission will be distributed on a first-come basis. At 10:30 a.m., participants will line-up and get ready, and at 10:45 a.m. everyone will jump together into the cool waters. Everybody will then be invited to meet up at the ABGB later that afternoon. Click here for more details.
— Labor Day in Austin means it’s time for the annual Free Day of Yoga! You’ll find events all around town, all day long. Participating studios across the Austin area will offer free classes for people of every age and fitness level.
— Kids can have a blast at a Round Rock Express baseball game! This game starts at 12:05 p.m. with $1 hot dogs and $1 sodas up for grabs. It is hot out there for sure, but hold on to that summer spirit for one last visit to the ballpark. Tickets start at only $7.
— While many pools have closed around town, area splash pads are still keeping us cool until September 27. So grab your towels and sunscreen and let the kids splash away the day. Don’t be shy about jumping in there, too! All splash pads are FREE and open from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Click here for a list of splash pads. Are swimming pools more of your thing than splash pads? Take note that Barton Springs, Deep Eddy and Stacy pools operate on a year-round basis; and many municipal pools will be open from 12-7 p.m. on Labor Day. Click here for a list of pool schedules.
— Challenge the kids to a game of laser tag and take advantage of Blazer Tag’s Labor Day Specials! Enjoy 2 games of laser tag for $16.75 or 3 games for $20.50. They will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Kids will love taking some time to play all of the fun arcade games there, too!
— Chill out at a children’s movie with bargain admission! An American Tail is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar as part of the Alamo Kids Camp series. For this film, you can pick your ticket price of $1 – $3. Click here to reserve your tickets.
— Let the kids run around and play during Safari Champ’s Labor Day Special! For only $5 admission all day, kids can play at Round Rock’s indoor play center. Be sure to bring socks for the kids. And take note that they will not offer drop-in childcare.
