Summer 2020 Update: The Sherwood Forest Youth Camp has been cancelled this year.
How would your kids like to be transported back into a world of knights, ladies, and medieval times this summer? Sherwood Forest Summer Camp offers an awesome, unique experience where kids can embrace the past in a beautiful forest setting, and immerse themselves in a week-long sleep-away experience where they learn skills that were essential to daily living in the medieval era. Campers have the rare opportunity to try their hands at many crafts that are no longer widely taught — archery, falconry, swordplay, leatherwork, blacksmithing, herb lore, juggling, and more.
Kids ages 7-16 can attend this exciting overnight camp on the 23-acre medieval village just outside of Austin in McDade, TX. Campers have the option of sleeping in Sherwood Castle or one of the Merry Folks’ Pavilions. A typical camper day includes attending 5 – 6 classes, 3 healthy meals, a snack, and an evening activity or entertainment of some kind after dinner. Campers end their day with a shower and bedtime story.
Sherwood Forest Summer Camp offers 3 sessions of 6 nights each. Campers are dropped off on Sunday and picked up on Saturday. If campers are attending multiple sessions consecutively, they can stay on that “bridge” Saturday night and enjoy extra-special activities at no extra charge! (They’ll do their laundry for no additional charge too.)
- Session I – July 5 – 11, 2020
- Session II – July 12 – 18, 2020
- Session III – July 19 – 25, 2020
Take note that the amazing annual Sherwood Forest Faire will take place from February 29 – April 19 this year. You can get your tickets online here. Also, if Mom or Dad are interested in a unique experience for adults this year, check out the Sherwood Forest Grown Up Summer Camp from June 19-21!
