Mamas, there’s much to do and it’s all about YOU this Sunday, May 11. Celebrate Mother’s Day in Austin with some fancy brunches, some mother-themed movies, or perhaps, some painting. Check out what’s going on this weekend and celebrate yourself, you deserve it.

Brunches/Food

Mother’s Day at Due Forni includes a complimentary glass of rose champagne and a delectable menu of sear scallops, braised pork belly and more.

— Celebrate your day with a Gospel Brunch at Stubb’s, where you can knock out church, BBQ, and Mother’s Day in one place.

— Celebrate mom, food and film at The Sound of Music Mother’s Day Brunch Feast where you can sing along and enjoy an amazing menu while watching the classic film. Playing at Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline and Slaughter Lane locations, starts at 11 am at both theaters. Get your tickets here!

— The Mother’s Day Brunch at Russian House of Austin will feature the finest Russian cuisine unlimited buffet brunch, and moms will receive a complimentary glass of champagne. Kids under 7 eat free!

— Relax with mum at Cafe Ruckus for Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea, where you can chat over scones, sandwiches and loose leaf tea while you soak up the decadence.

— Take it easy at Ski Shores Cafe during Lakeside Live where you can enjoy a nice view of the lake while eating classic burgers and seeing some live music. The kids can play on the playscape while you enjoy the tunes of Roger Smith, 5 – 7:30 pm.

Stuff to Do

— Watch Raising Arizona at Blue Starlite Mini-Urban Drive-in and enjoy the only drive-in theater around. Movie starts at 8:45 pm on Friday, May 9.

— Take the kids to celebrate you AND Mother Earth (because she’s pretty important too) at the 13th Annual Mother Earth Day Festival at the Springs on Friday, May 9 from 9 am – 1 pm at Barton Springs. Kids can enjoy art projects, music, the may pole, magic, pirates, puppets, hula hoops, science and watershed interactive exhibits and more. FREE.

— Kids can stop by Lake Travis Community Library on Saturday, May 10 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm and make a Mother’s Day Craft. They’ll have everything you need to create a special craft for Mom.

— Share laughter, and possibly tears, with other moms at Listen To Your Mother, a national series of locally produced stage shows featuring local writers and authors reading their original work on motherhood. See performances on Thursday, May 8 at 7 pm, or Saturday, May 10 at 3 pm. Shows will be at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center. Tickets are $15 if purchased online, $18 at the door.

— Enjoy a double-feature at the Blue Starlite Mini-Urban Drive-In with Steel Magnolias and Raising Arizona, playing on Saturday, May 10 at 8:30 pm.

— Arrange for the kids to attend the Mother’s Day Craft class at Kaleidoscope Toys and they can paint a porcelain vase for you (don’t forget to act surprised when you see it). Classes are at 2:30 and 3:30 pm, $6 per child, register by calling 512-388-5048.

— Get a Mother’s Day Massage and Mimosas at Millie & Mox on Saturday, May 10 from 11 am – 1 pm. Enjoy a complimentary 15-minute chair massage and relax with a mimosa and treats whil kids do arts and crafts. Free!

— Get step-by-step instruction for the Mother’s Day class at Pinot’s Palette South Lamar where you’ll paint “Tulips in Blue” on Sunday, May 11 at 3 pm. You bring the bubbles and Pinot’s will provide the orange juice so you can sip on mimosas while you paint. Class is from 3 – 5 pm, $35, register here. Not into tulips? They’re also offering a class from 11 am – 1 pm where you’ll paint “Poppies En Vogue”, register here.

— The whole crew can get in touch with their inner artist at Painting with a Twists’s Family Day class on Sunday, May 11 from 11:30 am – 1 pm. You’re welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages while you paint “Polka Dot Love”, $25, register here.

— See Steel Magnolias at the Blue Starlite Mini-Urban Drive-In on Sunday, May 11 at 8:15 pm.
