Take the plunge into 2019! If you’re up for a frosty cold swim to kick off the new year on Monday, Jan. 1, you can choose from a few places around Austin to satisfy your inner polar bear.

Polar Bear Splash 2019 @ Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park, 9 a.m.
NOTE: Because of recent flooding and closures last week, please check the Save Our Springs Alliance Facebook Page to confirm the event before going. 
Head to Barton Springs for the annual Splash. Admission to the pool is free all day, starting at 5 a.m.! Save Our Springs Alliance will be set up at 9 a.m. with commemorative shirts for sale, and free coffee and donuts — please consider making a donation to this great organization! Everything is first come, first serve. So, get there early, bring your friends and family to enjoy the inviting 68 degree water. Group costumes and plunges are welcome. (Take note, no lifeguards will be on duty. Swim, splash & shiver at your own risk.)

Pfreeze Pflop in Pflugerville @ Scott Mentzer Pool, 10 a.m.
Are you brave enough to slide into the pfrigid water at Scott Mentzer Pool? Participants must be in line by 10 a.m., as the event goes quickly. Admission is free with donation of a canned food item to benefit local food banks.

Polar Bear Splash @ Kyle Pool, 1 p.m.
Take part in the 15th annual Kyle tradition. There is no admission charge to take part in the Polar Bear Splash, but for $30 you can join the Polar Bear Club and get a sweatshirt, tickets for door prizes and an annual pool pass. Pool doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the splash starts at 1 p.m. Click here for more info.

Polar Bear Plunge: Freezin for a Reason @ Robin Bledsoe Pool, 2 p.m.
Take part in a Leander tradition and make a SPLASH on January 1st at the Bledsoe Pool. Anyone can join the Polar Bear Club for $35. Club members get a Polar Bear Sweat Shirt and a 2019 Pool Season Pass. To register, you can call 512-528-9909. There is no admission fee for watching. Pool gates open at 1:30 p.m. and the splash takes place at 2 p.m.

 — Polar Bear Plunge & Fun Run @ Blue Hole Regional Park, 12:30 p.m.
This 2nd annual event in Wimberley will start off with a Fun Run on Blue Hole’s trails at 12:30 p.m. The run is 1 mile and the finish line will be a jump into the famous Blue Hole! If you would not like to participate in the Fun Run, we will have a scheduled jump into Cypress Creek at 1 p.m., or you can come and plunge anytime during the event! The event will end at our fire pit. Free but you must RSVP here.
