Every spring, runners, fitness enthusiasts and healthy families converge in downtown Austin for the Statesman Capitol 10K. Now in its 39th year, the Cap10K race will take place on Sunday, Apr. 10 for runners of all ages. This family-friendly events encourages you to run, walk, push that baby stroller, or even bring along your pup for a race through Austin’s picturesque downtown. Then at the Finish Line Festival, you can celebrate your accomplishment with live music, food trucks, a beer garden, kids zone and more.

April 8 & 9: The Statesman Cap10K Health & Fitness Expo
The Health & Fitness Expo is free and open to the general public and takes place at the Palmer Events Center (Exhibition Hall 2) from 12-7 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 8 and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 9. The Expo will serve as the pick-up location for race bibs, t-shirts and official race guide. While you’re there, you can also shop at for apparel, product samples, race applications, health and medical advice, activities, and more. Parking at the Palmer Events Center Garage is a flat rate of $8.

April 10: The Statesman Cap10K Race

  • 7:30 a.m. -> Wheelchair Athletes Start
  • 8 a.m. -> Race Start Corral A & B
  • 8:10 a.m. -> Race Start Corral C
  • 8:30 a.m. -> Race Start Corral D
  • 8:30 a.m. -> Race Start Corral E & F
  • 8:45 a.m. -> Start Line Closes
  • 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. -> Finish Line Festival (see details below)
  • 9:45 a.m. -> Awards Presentation
  • 11 a.m. -> Race Course Closes

— Families, take note: Baby Jogger Family Start Area
The Family Baby Jogger Starting Area is a family friendly staging area for baby joggers with a few great perks. Families are invited to take advantage of free reserved parking at the Austin American-Statesman, conveniently located at the start line (parking pass required). Once you’ve parked, meet at the baby jogger staging area near Corral C for family only restrooms, diaper changing tent, complimentary juice, and free pinwheels for kids.

— Costume Contest: To add a little extra fun to race day, you can wear something festive. Click here for full details about the costume contest & a list of categories. This year’s costume contest has gone social, and all contest submissions will be submitted and voted on via “Likes” on Statesman Cap10K’s Official Facebook page.

April 10: Finish Line Festival
After the race, be sure to stick around for all of the fun at the Finish Line Festival at Auditorium Shores Main Lawn. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and a CapKids Zone finish line festival will feature face painting, a petting zoo and a rock-climbing wall. Check out the entertainment schedule:

  • 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., Finish Line Festival
  • 8:30 a.m.,  The Nightowls
  • 9:30 a.m.,  Quiet Company
  • 9:45 a.m.,  Awards Presentation
  • 10:30 a.m.,  Quite Company
  • 12 p.m., Finish Line Festival Concludes

You can click here to register online. The cost is $45 through April 3, and then $50 after that. For children ages 10 and younger it is $30 through April 3 and $35 after. $1 of every registration will go directly to The Trail Foundation.
