Austin’s French Legation Museum is hosting another year of family fun during their Summer Saturdays held on alternating Saturdays through August 8! Enjoy guided tours and special kid-friendly activities on the gorgeous grounds of this historic home.
Tours: You can take a guided tour of the historic house, built in 1841, and the reconstructed kitchen. Tours are led by trained docents and last approximately forty minutes and are offered at 1:15 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tours are a suggested donation of $5 per person, and kids under 5 are free. The Summer Saturdays activities are free with your paid tour.
Summer Saturdays will take place on alternating Saturdays through August 8, 2015. Mark your calendar for these dates:
- May 30
- June 13
- June 27
- July 11
- July 25 – Bubbles! Make your own bubble wands and see who can blow the biggest bubble.
- August 8 – Lawn Games! Play games like hoop rolling, stilt walking, game of graces, badminton and more!
–> Summer Storytimes: Every 1st Thursday of the month, you can take the kids to the French Legation for a fun storytime! You can meet on the steps of the house at 10 a.m. and then listen to stories and participate in an activity. Groups are welcome to bring blankets and picnics to stay and explore the grounds.
–> Parking: The French Legation Museum Parking Lot is located at 9th Street and Embassy Drive. Other public parking is available on surrounding streets, and is free during Museum hours.
