The Red Poppy Festival kicks off Friday, Apr. 25 in Historic Georgetown and continues through Sunday, Apr. 27. The whole family can enjoy arts, crafts, a parade, a car show, a kids area, food, music and more, and admission is FREE!
If the slogan “Keep Austin Weird” had its own festival, Eeyore’s Birthday would be it. Get weird at Pease Park on Saturday, Apr. 26 from 11 am until dark, the children’s area will be open from 11 am – 4 pm and live music from noon – 6 pm. Admission is FREE! Dress code will be Austin-formal: tutus, bikinis, fairy wings and flip flops. Costumes are encouraged and there will be a contest. Props: hula hoops, bubbles and flower garlands.
In preparation for the Austin Mini Maker Faire that’s scheduled to rock our worlds on Saturday, May 3, several makers have signed up to make appearances at local libraries where kids can Meet the Maker and participate in various activities.
Cue choirs of angels: there’s a new playground at the Triangle. This mixed-use development in Central Austin has long been a favorite destination for families and this is the icing on the cake. The playground is located near the big grassy field, across the street from Snap Kitchen and next to Maudie’s. It’s on the smaller side, geared toward younger children.
New moms, channel the Earth Day buzz early by taking your babies for some springtime exercise outside on Tuesday, Apr. 22 at 10:30 am. Meet at Johnson Creek (more specifically, by the restrooms) for the Spring Stroll and Stretch from Austin Kula Yoga.
Easter! Three-day weekend! Huzzah!! Find eggs, watch a movie, eat amazing food, see fabulous children’s plays and a lot more this weekend!

Red Bud Isle may be more familiar to dog lovers than parents, but the small peninsula offers beautiful views and freedom for all. It is an ideal setting for children to walk their own dog without too much oversight. Red Bud Isle is a wonderful place to see wildlife, from Great Blue Herons and American Coots to squirrels and turtles outwitting the canine crowd.
On Thursday, Apr. 17 starting at 7:15 pm, join the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department in Old Settlers Park for its annual Flashlight Egg Hunt. Let your flashlight be your guide to candy, eggs and prizes and then stay for a movie in the park featuring the family movie The Rise of the Guardians. Be sure to look for the golden eggs- they can be redeemed for a special prize basket!
This weekend you can attend an iconic arts festival, one of the biggest folk and Americana festivals, participate in a stand up paddleboard race, see some free movies, hunt for eggs, take the kids to the theatre and a whole lot more!
