On Saturday, Apr. 18 and Sunday, Apr. 19, you can take the family to Camp Mabry for the annual the Texas Miliary Forces Museum Open House and American Heroes Air Show. Check out a large WWII battle reenactment, helicopter and parachute demos, children’s activities, historic military vehicles on display, food vendors, music and more. This event is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days.
At the Open House at Camp Mabry, reenactors (from the Texas Revolution through current times) display their historical uniforms, weapons and equipment and show them to the general public. In addition there is a large WWII battle reenactment each day at 2 pm. These battles feature 200 Allied and German soldiers recreating a WWII battle using original equipment, tanks, and weapons from the time period. This includes a fly over by AT-6 Texans as part of the battle. The museum will be open each day from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. For more info regarding the schedule of events, you can click here.
Please note, to get into Camp Mabry, you will need to show at photo I.D. Entrance is located off 35th St.
