The Travis County Family Violence Task Force welcomes you to join them at the Stand Up for Safe Families Paddle Parade 2015! Show support for victims of family violence by wearing purple and hitting the lake with free kayak, paddleboard and canoe rentals on Lady Bird Lake.

Children can put on their costumes and enjoy strolling the through the zoo and peeking at the animals by flashlight. The Zoo will be illuminated and decorated for Halloween at this fun event happening on Fridays and Saturdays in October. Kids can also ride the Haunted Train and explore the Haunted House. Creepy scarecrows, ghost stories and all things scary will be featured at this Halloween festival that opens on Friday, October 9. This year’s theme is “Grimm’s Ghostly Tales,” featuring three separate spooky trails each night — one for young children (amusing, rated G), another for those who want spooky surprises (rated PG) and a scary, scary trail for the adventurous (frights galore, rated PG-13). Admission is $12 per person, which you can purchase online here.
— Dig In! Archeology Day @ French Legation Museum
Saturday, Oct. 10, 1-5 p.m.
In celebration of Texas Archeology Month, kids can visit the museum to learn about archeology through fun activities! Excavate artifacts in a mock dig, learn about layering with a stratigraphy activity, and more. Activities are free and open to the public. Tours of the house will be given at the regular time and admissions costs.
