Where to Play in the Snow in Austin, 2014

It’s snow exciting! There are several chances for Austin-area kids to play in the snow this winter no matter what Mother Nature has planned. Check out the upcoming events where truck loads of snow will be delivered so that you can make tiny snowmen, throw snowballs, and feel that icy cold slush in your very own hands. So dig out those mittens and boots and get ready for some snowy fun!

Where to Play in the Snow in Austin:

Snow Day at Hill Country Galleria
Every weekend in December!
Saturday, Dec. 6; Sunday, Dec. 14; Saturday, Dec. 20 — noon – 4 p.m.
Located outside of the Bee Cave Library, you’ll find real snow being delivered to the Hill Country Galleria. Toss a snowball, build a snowman, make a snow angel, and take family photos. Enjoy live holiday music, holiday carolers, and more. Free!

A Snow Spectacular in Cedar Park
Saturday, Dec. 6 from 4 – 8 p.m.
30,000 pounds of real snow will be blown over a 1230 square foot area for the kids to play in at Twin Creeks Country Club in Cedar Park! Light hor d’oeuvres & a hot chocolate/coffee bar will be available as well as a visit from Santa, a hay ride, a silent auction and more. This event benefits children fighting cancer with funds being raised for Battle for a Cure Foundation. Tickets are available online in advance for $10/child and $20/adult. Tickets will be available at the door for $15/child & $25/adult.

Snow Hill in Fisherman’s Park in Bastrop
Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m.
Join the Bastrop Parks and Recreation Department for an afternoon of fun at Fisherman’s Park starting at 3 p.m.. Help turn on the Trail of Lights, play on a snow covered hill, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while roasting marshmallows, and watching “Arthur Christmas” under snow flakes. Christmas Dreams & Snowy Things in Round Rock
Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. –  6 p.m.
Head to the CHASCO Family YMCA (Boles Family Sports Complex) for real snow, sponsored by the Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships. Enjoy activities in the snow, giant slides, paintball, tango tower, zip line, horse-drawn wagon rides, train rides, interactive holiday booths, inflatables and rides, concessions, live music,  and appearances by Santa and world famous clydesdales. Free!

Sunday, Dec. 14, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Head to Abel’s North for a fun afternoon. You’ll enjoy photos with Santa, train rides, bouncy castles, cookie decorating, beer tasting, SNOW & more! (Santa will arrive at 1:30pm.) FREE with an unwrapped present for their toy drive. Fun for the whole family!
