Take the kids fishing on Saturday, Jan. 16 in the lower pond at Camp Mabry! Both military families, as well as families from the larger Austin community, are invited to come out for the 2nd Annual Youth Fishing Derby! Ponds will be stocked with Rainbow Trout, and prizes will be given for outstanding catches at this free event.
Don’t have a fishing pole? That’s okay. They will have tackle and poles you can use. But you’re also welcome to bring your own if you’ve got them.
Texas Parks and Wildlife, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and the Texas Army National Guard environmental program are partnering to bring you this fun family outdoor event. In addition, to learning how to fish and fishing, there will be many other fun and educational activities for your children to engage in.

Free FISHING DERBY Saturday, January 16th, at Camp Mabry in Austin.
Camp Mabry is hosting this free event at their stocked pond. It’s open to the public and includes lunch, poles and tackle (or bring your own), activities, prizes and more. It will be a great opportunity for kids and adults alike to visit a historic place in the heart of Austin and enjoy some time in nature.
