Do512 Family - What to do in Austin with Kids

19th Annual Empty Bowl Project

On Sunday, Nov. 22 you can join the community at a great event to help fight hunger in Austin. Each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the Austin Empty Bowl Project organizes a family-friendly event where you can purchase a locally crafted ceramic bowl, have it filled with gourmet soup and listen to live music while enjoying your lunch. This event takes place from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Marchesa Hall & Theatre at The Linc and raises money for Kids Cafe, a program of the Capital Area Food Bank, as well as Meals for Kids, a program of Meals on Wheels & More.

Thousands of bowls are hand-crafted by local artists, and some are autographed by local celebrities. When you arrive at the event, you can purchase a bowl for $20 and enjoy soup & bread (included). The bowl will be yours to take home with you.
