It’s definitely picnic season! Memorial Day Weekend is a time for getting outdoors with your family and gathering to eat. Emma Long Metropolitan Park has 151 picnic tables to choose from. It’s one of the larges parks in Austin with swimming spots and 68 barbecue pits. Even though there is an $8 admission charge it is a local favorite.

Pease Park has a playground, a splash pad and 39 picnic tables. This 42-acre park also has 3 volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts and 2 barbecue pits. It is home to the Austin favorite, Eeyore’s Birthday.

Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park is on Walter E. Long Lake, a large and popular fishing site. You can rent kayaks and enjoy a swim. There are 78 picnic tables to choose from and 38 barbecue pits where you can cook up a family feast! There is an $8 admission fee.

Eilers Park is known for housing Deep Eddy Pool, but there is also a toddler play area and 16 picnic tables. A smaller park that’s great for a picnic since you can cool off in the pool afterwards.

Mount Bonnell is the best view in town. It’s pretty amazing. After you climb the stairs to the top you can take in an awesome view of the city as well as the Colorado River. There’s 4 picnic tables, some are kind of hidden and super private among the trails.
