Groundwork Music Project is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of children by providing free and low cost music classes to preschools with limited means. These programs provide the musical activities that are essential to healthy development across a broad spectrum: emotional, cognitive, social and more. Their musicians also offer awesome Parent & Me classes for families with children who aren’t enrolled in a preschool program. Enrollment for the next ten-week session with local musician, Neal Kassanoff, is now open. Parents with infants and older kids are encouraged to sign up.
Classes will meet in East Austin (near Maplewood Elementary) for Friday morning classes, and in South Austin (near Lamar and Barton Springs) for Monday morning classes, with other times and locations added as demand dictates.
The ten-week sessions begins on January 24 at 9:30 am. Space in each 45 minute class is limited to 10 to 12 children. The cost for the session is $150–that’s $15 per class, which is awesome. Discounts are available to families enrolling more than one child and there is no charge for siblings under 6 months of age. This is a great opportunity to support a local artist from an important local non-profit.
Neal Kassanoff’s original music will be featured in the class and is always a hit with children. Here is a video of a performance from SXSW:
