Today:
— Parents, if you need a night out, take your kiddo(s) to the Frozen-themed Kids Night Out at The Little Yoga House. Kids will go on a yoga adventure, eat pizza, play FREEZE yoga and sing along to the movie. Costumes are welcomed! Cost is $40 per child, 5 – 9 pm, ages 3+ (must be potty-trained), register here.
— Head to the rooftop plaza at Whole Foods Market Downtown for Sunset Supper Cinema and catch a free screening of Ratatouille at 8:30 pm. Bring chairs, a blanket, a picnic, or get some healthy snacks from Whole Foods and enjoy the view and the movie.
— Mamas, take your son to the Mother-Son Art Night at Cordovan Art School Round Rock from 6 – 8 pm. Bring a snack or juice to share with the group and work on a painting with your little guy. Class is $50 for the both of you, register here.
Saturday:
— It’s your FINAL WEEKEND to check out the Sherwood Forest Faire, open from 10 am – dusk this Saturday and Sunday, located just 30 minutes east of Austin. Dress up and get ready for a fun day walking the grounds of this renaissance festival, complete with comedy shows, magic tricks, tons of live music, beer, a kid’s area with a castle and giant chess matches. Read our review to see why we’ll be attending every year! Tickets are $9 – $20, kids under 6 are free, tickets are cheaper when you buy online! (Note: there will be NO buy-one-get-one promotion this Sunday)
— Moms, bring your kids ages 0 – 2 to our Free Workout at Castle Hill Studio at 9 am. We’ve teamed up with Total Mommy Fitness to bring you a workout that you can do WITH your baby/toddler. Afterward, enjoy complimentary snacks from KIND and fresh, raw juices from Skinny Limits. It’s free, see you there!
— Rap up you week and see your kid’s favorite local rapper, Big Don, perform for $5 per child at Toybrary Austin from 10:30 – 11 am.
— See live music from the Austin Lyric Opera and get a dance lesson from Austin Samba School at Planet Music – Samba, at Zilker Hillside Theater. The whole shebang is free, from 7 – 9 pm.
Sunday:
— Technology meets puppetry at Dino-light!, a cool production happening at Paramount Theatre with showtimes at 2 pm and 4:30 pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here, or you can take your chances and ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN 4 tickets here. In Dino-light!, electroluminescent creatures light up the darkness in a heart-rending original tale. Truly unique and visually dazzling, Dino-light! has been praised for its cutting edge blend of puppetry, technology, and dance by audiences all over the world.
— Spend an amazing day outdoors at the Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center for their Spring Open House and Field Day featuring special topical tours on birds, wildflowers, insects and geology, as well as fun activities for the family. The open house is from 10:30 am – 3 pm and costs $10/adult, free for children 12 and under. Bring a picnic to enjoy under the shade of oaks and junipers, or you can purchase Rocky Creek BBQ.
— The Children’s Picnic and Real Food Festival at the French Legation Museum will have local food vendors, artisans, games, tastings, cooking demonstrations, music and family-friendly learning experiences. Free, from 1 – 5 pm, this event focuses on the wellness of future generations by encouraging healthy habits in children.
