You’ll get plenty of ideas, see landscaping and home displays, meet celebrity experts, check out new products, and more. Plus, kids can craft, color, watch movies and see live animals! — Watch an outdoor family film at Robin Bledsoe Park in Leander tonight at dusk. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day will be playing on the screen. Free! Bring blankets and chairs, and enjoy a night out with the kids.
— Take the family to a free, fully-inclusive event that’s open to all! The Johnson Center for Child Health and Development is co-hosting the Back to School Bash at the Austin Rec Center from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. There will be games, prizes, bounce houses, snacks, and music from Lucas Miller, the Singing Zoologist at 3 p.m.
— Support the Austin Public Library at their Book Sale this Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.! Head to the Yarborough Branch for a big selection of children’s and adult hardcover & paperback books.
— Nature-lovers, check out the annual Swift Fest in downtown Jonestown, Texas from 5-10 p.m. Witness hundreds of small birds, Chimney Swifts, arrive in a tornado-like sight! Celebrate this annual phenomenon at a FREE festival with games and activities for kids, nature-themed vendors, live music and bird-watching, of course. — Pack a picnic, spread out a blanket and enjoy a free show at the Zilker Hillside Theater at 7:30 p.m. The Roy Lozano Ballet Folklorico de Texas presents Noche de Folklor 2015 featuring students from the School of Dance and the Adult Performing Company. Special guests, The Irish Dance Company, will also be performing. Be sure to bring $5 for parking.
— Join a ranger for a nighttime exploration of McKinney Falls State Park! You can go on a Full Moon Hike at 8 p.m. Participants will hunt for scorpions, listen for owls, and search for spiders. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a flashlight. Free with paid admission ($6 per adult, kids 12 and under are free).
— Let the kids enjoy a free show from the Hey Lollies at Cherrywood Coffeehouse while you enjoy a cup of coffee. The show starts at 10 a.m.

— It’s Kids Day at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock and also the birthday of the team’s mascot, Spike! Take the kids to cheer on the Round Rock Express game at 6:05 p.m. and stick around so that they can run the bases after the game. If your kids are members of the Jr. Sluggers Kids Club, they will also be able to participate in special activities for Spike’s birthday celebration. Lawn tickets start at $7.
