Top Austin Family Weekend Events…

— Shake your bones at the Bullock Museum’s annual Spooktacular Halloween celebration from 5-8 p.m. Skeletons of all shapes and sizes will find fun creating glow in the dark art, experimenting with “bony” science, and moving their bones to the spooky beats. Plus, explore the Museum’s exhibitions after hours while sporting your latest Halloween costume creation. Spooktacular is a free event presented in partnership with Girlstart.

— It’s Heroes and Villains Night at the Texas Stars hockey game in the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and features favorite superheroes, themed movie clips, music, and games throughout the night. Kids in costume get free admission with purchase of adult ticket at the box office. Tickets start at $15.

— Head to the Long Center where the Austin Symphony Orchestra will play along to a screening of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas at 8 p.m. Tickets for this special Disney in Concert event start at $12 and can be purchased online here.

Dress in costume for the Halloween Hootenanny after-hours party at the Thinkery from 6-9 p.m. Try some spellbindingly fun activities for all ages. Hat Creek Burger Co. will be there giving out free burgers! Tickets for this party are $11-$15 and can be purchased online here.

— Bring the family to the grounds of the Texas School for the Deaf from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for the 4th annual Spooky Skedaddle 1K Fun Run, Carnival and Motostalgia Car Show. Enjoy a 1K Fun Run at 11:30 a.m., a classic car show, food trucks and carnival games with proceeds going towards educational programming for deaf children of Texas. Admission is free! Participating in the 1K Fun Run is only $5 per person, and tickets for carnival games will be sold at the event.

— Take the family to Austin’s largest and longest-running Dia de los Muertos event — the Mexic-Arte Museum‘s annual Viva la Vida Festival from noon-8 p.m. This year, event features a grand procession and street festival, as well as education activities and art exhibits. The parade begins at 12 p.m. and travels west on 6th Street to 4th Street & Congress. There will be vendors, live music and a costume contest outdoors. Admission is free.

— There’s a lot of costumed fun happening in Elizabeth Milburn Park today in Cedar Park! The annual Fable Fest includes a fun run at 9 a.m. and a festival from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. with carnival games and inflatables, plenty of foods of all kinds, and live performances. Free admission, and funds raised from the event will benefit the Cedar Park Public Library.

— Enjoy a free night of music and Halloween merriment at the 5th Annual Kids’ Ball presented by White Ghost Shivers and Creative Action! Free and open to all from 5-8:30 p.m. at Central Market North Lamar with fun and treats galore, with make-your-own costume, mask, and puppet stations. Plus, the rollicking tunes of White Ghost Shivers at 6 p.m.

— Let’s hang out at a big family party in the park! Waller Creek Conservancy invites everyone to their free Sunday Funday in Palm Park on from 1-5 p.m. Kick back with the kids, spread out a blanket for a picnic, and enjoy some pre-Halloween fun and games including a hay bale maze, bounce house, face painting, food trucks and a costume contest.

— It’s not too late to pick out a pumpkin before Halloween! Take a visit to Barton Hill Farms Fall Festival & Corn Maze where you can navigate a corn maze, get your pumpkins, go on a mini-train ride, play games, listen to live music and more!
