IT’S TIME TEXAS makes healthy easier for Texans where they live, learn, work, worship and shop. Check out these five fun events for getting out and getting active with the kids this week!

1. Free First Parent/Child Gymnastics Class
Monday, Apr. 6,  4:15 – 5 p.m. @ North Austin YMCA
Basic gymnastics for little gymnasts! Parent participation is required. Available for children ages 18 months to 2 years. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of class to ensure a spot in the class. Your first class at the YMCA is free, and your next two classes are only $10 each! Be sure to ask about affordable membership options at the front desk. For more information, give the Y a call!

2. Sustainable Food Center Market East
Tuesday, Apr. 7,  3 – 7 p.m. @ Sustainable Food Center
Venture east mid-week and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a small community farmers’ market. SFC is serious about fresh fruits & veggies, as well as a variety of other farm products. They also host educational & entertaining workshops on a regular basis. SNAP Lonestar cards, WIC EBT cards, and the Double Dollar Incentive Program accepted!

3. Rock The Boat
Wednesday, Apr. 8,  1 – 2:30 p.m. @ Lady Bird Lake
Be introduced to kayaking and canoeing on beautiful Lady Bird Lake. The program will be available to 10 people per session, so sign up early! Pre-registration is required. Registration is available at McBeth Recreation Center only. Always check with your doctor before beginning any new exercise, and wear warm clothes, it can be windy on the water!

4. Preschool Playtime
Friday, Apr. 10,  10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. @ Northwest Recreation Center
What better way to end the week (or start the weekend!) than to bring your toddler-preschool age children to join in on the fun and open play during Preschool Playtime? Whether they’re bouncing in the bouncy castle, learning to peddle the tricycles, socializing with new friends, or bopping to tunes, there is plenty to keep your kiddos entertained and having fun in the full-size gymnasium. Family members and guardians welcome. Every Friday, $5 for a five visit pass card!

5. Cap10K Health and Fitness Expo
Friday, Apr. 10,  12 – 7 p.m. & Saturday, Apr. 11,  10 a.m. 6 p.m.Palmer Events Center
The Statesman Cap10K Health & Fitness Expo presented by EHI Health Care is the best opportunity to see and experience products and services in the greater Austin Area, as well as surrounding areas! The expo is free and open to the public! Bring friends and family to shop at more than 50 vendors for apparel, product samples, race applications, health and medical advice, healthy activities, and more!
