ACL Radio’s Blues on the Green is back again on July 18 and 19 with two nights of free concerts in Zilker Park! If you’re new to Austin or new to this local event, Blues on the Green invites music lovers of all ages out to the park to enjoy family and pet-friendly live concerts. Gather your friends and bring your blankets to find a spot in the grass for this iconic music series.

Plan to head to BOTG on Tuesday, July 18 for a concert from Devon Gillfillian with Phillip Phillips. Then on Wednesday, July 19, head back for Wild Child with Thebrosfresh.  The music starts at 7 pm, with Paul Val on night one and Zach Carney on night two.

Planning to Attend
As you can imagine, these concerts are super popular and LOTS of people attend. The ACL Radio website has a helpful FAQ page with the rules and regulations of what you can and cannot bring. In the meantime, we’re sharing some tips from previous years of taking kids to the event.

  • Take public transportation or ride-share.  Check out CapMetro‘s options for getting to Zilker Park, and don’t forget, kids ride free on all CapMetro services, all the time. Check here for their Trip Planner.  We also recommend using a ride-share app (with a portable car seat if your child requires one).
  • BYO food and drinks. While there are plenty of food and beverage vendors at the event, if you bring along your picnic, you can save yourself some money and avoid long lines at food trucks. You’ll want to be sure to pack plenty of water for yourself and your children to stay hydrated.
  • Pack blankets and chairs. You are allowed to bring both. Set up shop and relax!
  • Don’t forget bug spray and sunscreen. It’s hot. It’s buggy.
  • Bring games & activities for the kids. Bring a deck of cards, easy travel games, or bubbles to keep the kids happy while waiting for the show to start. Pack along glow sticks for when the sun goes down.
  • Blues With a View.  This year, Blues on the Green is offering tickets to an exclusive area directly in front of the stage.  Tickets are $100 per person for this VIP view, and kids 12 and under are free.  You can purchase yours and get more info here: night one | night two
