Bring your smart girls (and boys) to a free party hosted by Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls at Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 6:45 p.m. The Smart Girls Party at SXSW includes a great lineup of entertainment that is free for all ages with no RSVP or wristbands required. Enjoy a marimba performance by 17-year-old Sarah Ortiz, a Q&A with skateboarding superstars, Sowle Sisters, a rockin’ set from Austin’s own teen indie pop act, Charlie Belle, and then a special dance party with DJ Lauren LaRose!

— About Amy Poehler’s Smart GirlsFounded by actor and writer Amy Poehler and producer Meredith Walker, the Smart Girls organization is dedicated to helping young people cultivate their authentic selves. Their motto is: “Change the World by Being Yourself.” What began as an online show for young girls has become a place for information, comedy and community. Their goal is to provide a healthy alternative to so much that is being marketed to young people on the internet: “We emphasize intelligence and imagination over ‘fitting in.’ We celebrate curiosity over gossip. We are a place where people can truly be their weird and wonderful selves.”
This event is open to the public. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
