Here are our Top 10 Austin Family Events…
— At Pioneer Farms, you can walk right into the classic Dickens tale of A Christmas Carol and experience it like never before. Actors take you through an interactive theatrical presentation of this story in the historic buildings at Pioneer Farms. The “Ebeneezer’s Journey” events take place from 7-10 p.m. (and on Saturday, Dec. 13, too) Tickets are $12 per person, which you can reserve in advance here.
— Check out the 50th year of the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park! Families love the ferris wheel, interactive area with crafts, photo opportunities, a visit with Santa, delicious food and much more. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Trail between Dec. 7 – 21. $3 per person (ages 12 and older) on Fridays-Sundays (free during the week.) — Take the family to Home Slice for it’s 9th Annual Carnival O’ Pizza. Kids of all ages will have a fun time with carnival-inspired games, music, dancing, photo booths, raffles, and more! — Check out the latest children’s play at the Scottish Rite Theatre based on O. Henry’s classic story, The Gift of the Magi. A story of friendship and giving comes to life on stage in Kids of the Magi. Showtimes at 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. Tickets are available online here and at the door one hour before showtime. Tickets costs $8 for children ages 12 and under, and $13 for ages 13 and up.
— Want to play in the snow? Head to the CHASCO Family YMCA (Boles Family Sports Complex) in Round Rock to play in real snow from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Christmas Dreams & Snowy Things event! Enjoy activities in the snow, giant slides, paintball, tango tower, zip line, horse-drawn wagon rides, train rides, inflatables, concessions, live music, and appearances by Santa and world famous clydesdale horses. Free!
— For the 15th year, ZACH Theatre is bringing back it’s fun holiday sing-along show for children! Holiday Heroes is a play that’s great for kids ages 3 & up and is full of good cheer and laughter. Families can check it out at 10 a.m. (or next Saturday, Dec. 20, too). Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online in advance here.
— The 13th Annual Cherrywood Art Fair takes place at Maplewood Elementary School from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is a great place to find unique, handmade holiday gifts, but this art fair offers so much more — live music, food trucks, kids art area and aerial performances, too. Free admission and open to the public!
— Enjoy the annual Chanukah in the Hood event at Central Market North Lamar. You’ll find fun activities, arts & crafts, music, latkes, a dreidel spinning contest, face paining and more from 12 – 3:30 p.m. Celebrate the Festival of Lights with the community. Dreidels and chocolate Chanukah gelt for everyone! Free!
— Time with Santa is so special, and Millie & Mox knows that it’s a cherished moment for your child. That’s why they are hosting their 3rd annual Santa’s Workshop where kids can come chat with Santa in a delightful Christmas setting and take a photo. Plus, each child will get a special gift from Santa to take home. Open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Photos are $10 and no reservations are required.
— Take the kids to a fun holiday party at Abel’s North from 12:30 – 4 p.m. Abel’s North Pole will include photos with Santa, train rides, bouncy castles, cookie decorating, beer tasting, snow & more! Admission to this holiday party is free with one unwrapped toy for the toy drive.
