It looks like springtime in Austin will be packed full of fun family events! There’s a lot going on this weekend. You can check out dozens of street bands during HONK!TX, go ice skating with Olaf, shop for plants & more at the Zilker Garden Festival, go to batting practice at Round Rock Express Fan Fest, dance the samba, hunt for Easter eggs, go on a picnic at the French Legation Museum, watch a children’s play and so much more.

— Get ready for some big, bold and brassy musical mayhem! HONK!TX is a festival of community street bands that takes place today through Sunday with shows in locations throughout the city that are free and open to the public. Today, you can check out the music on South Congress from 6-10 p.m. at Jo’s Coffee, Snack Bar, and the parking lot of St. Vincent de Paul.

— Fans of Frozen are invited to Chaparral Ice for a special theme night from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Watch special ice skating exhibitions featuring Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and the cast of “Let It Defy Gravity,” Chaparral Ice’s first-ever spring show. Enjoy hot cocoa, and have fun skating in the glow of twinkle lights at 8:30 p.m. when the lights turn down low. Admission and skate rental fees are $10 for ages 6 and up, $5 for ages 5 and under. Glow stick necklaces will be also be available for purchase for $1.

— Check out the annual Zilker Garden Festival for a huge plant sale, flower show and lots of fun for kids including music, crafts, face painting and more. This family friendly event takes place in the Zilker Botanical Garden today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $8 Adults (age 12+), $4 Children (age 4-12), free for kids under age 4. Parking is $5.

— Head to the Dell Diamond from 10 a.m – 2 p.m. for the annual Round Rock Express Fan Fest Open House. The event is free and open to the public! Immerse yourself in the baseball spirit with batting practice on the field, a hot dog eating contest, make your own baseball card, check out the Express Fun Zone’s rock climbing wall, bounce house and much more.

— Kids ages 1-12 are invited to the Dittmar Recreation Center to “Search For The Lost Egg“. At this annual egg hunt and spring festival, kids can enjoy plenty of activities, crafts and photos with the Easter Bunny. And all of this family fun is free! Crafts and activities begin at 11 a.m. and the egg hunt will begin at 1 p.m.

Jack and the Beanstalk is playing at the Scottish Rite Theater with shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Enjoy a new modern twist on this classic tale. Live music, puppets, and lots of action make this the perfect show for young kids. Tickets are $6 for children 12 and under, and $10 for ages 13 and up. You can buy them online or at the theater.

— You and the kids can enjoy a free night of music and dance at the Austin Samba show at the Zilker Hillside Theatre. As part of the 2015 Planet Music series, Austin Samba will present “O Circo Místico” (“The Mystic Circus”) from 6-9 p.m. This springtime extravaganza features colorfully costumed dancers, giant puppets, jugglers, balloons, aerialists and acrobats gyrating to the pulsing rhythms of 50 samba drummers. Also enjoy free samba dance lessons before the show and a family dance party after the performance.

— Celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Pflugerville Recreation Center at the annual Spring Pfling. From noon – 3 p.m., the Parks and Recreation Department will host an afternoon of outdoor fun, games, a free petting zoo, pony rides and more. Free admission!

— Enjoy an afternoon on the gorgeous grounds of the French Legation Museum for Edible Austin’s annual Children’s Picnic and Real Food Fair. This free event takes place from 1-5 p.m. and helps you find great ways to introduce your kids to healthy eating and living. You’ll find lots of activities, games, cooking demonstrations, food tastings, a planting garden, booths with local artisans and much more.

— Today’s the LAST day to check out the  6th Annual Sherwood Forest Faire! Enjoy faeries, swordplay, theatre, magic, comedy, and games at this charming Renaissance Faire from 10 a.m. – dusk. The Three Little Pigs is a “Great Big Little Broadway Show” that’s playing on weekends now through Saturday, Apr. 25 at ZACH Theatre. Perfect for ages 3 and up, this family show is filled with laugh-out-loud humor and really fun music. Playing today at 2 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. Youth tickets are $15 & adult tickets are $20. — A year ago, the people of Northpoint Church were outgrowing their space in Georgetown and needed a little more room. They saw a need in North Austin for a place where people could come together and find encouragement, community and love. You can now check out the Grand Opening of Northpoint Church in Cedar Park. This celebration will include live music, fun games, and plenty of opportunity to meet new people. Service times are at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
