— Get ready for some happy squeals from the kids whey they get to see Elmo, Abby Cadabby and everyone’s favorite Sesame Street friends at the Frank Erwin Center in Seasame Street Live “Let’s Dance!” at 10 a.m. or 7 p.m. today. — Enjoy two annual Cedar Park events all in one at Elizabeth Milburn Park when this year’s Cedar Fest BBQ Cook-Off will be held in conjunction with the Cedar Park Heritage Festival from 1-5 p.m. You’ll enjoy historical displays, washer tournaments, food concessions, free photos with a longhorn (bring your own camera), sack races, stick horse rodeo and a corn on the cob eating contest. — If your little artists want to try something new, head to Laguna Gloria between 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. where they can customize a bike helmet to show off their style as they stay safe on the road! Every second Saturday of the month, The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria offers hands-on art-making workshops for children ages 2 – 11. $10 per family or $5 for museum members.

— Check out the annual South Asian New Year Festival at the Zilker Hillside Theatre from 11 a.m – 8 p.m. This free outdoor celebration highlights the colorful diversity of South Asian culture and features live dance and music performances on stage. Off stage, visitors can enjoy a bazaar packed with food, clothing, jewelry, crafts, henna and more. Free admission!

— We know that our kids have huge hearts! When given the chance, they are eager to help those in need, including our furry animal friends. Today from 2-4 p.m., your kids can meet at the Austin Animal Shelter to join Butterfly Unique‘s Acts of Service Project for Kids to make cat beds. Kids will also be able to tour the shelter while they are there. If your child would like to attend, be sure to RSVP on Facebook.

— You’ll love the The Three Little Pigs at ZACH Theatre, playing today at 11 a.m and 2 p.m. And you can snag discount tickets for only $13 (children or adult) for today’s shows! — Parents of babies and toddlers, come out and say “hi” to us at the The Big Baby Bash & Toddler Jam, located at Ben Hur Shrine Temple in North Central Austin. From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., you can attend seminars and workshops lead by nationally renowned and local experts, visit and shop with local vendors, and join in the fun with hands-on demos. UPDATE: Due to rain, this event is moving to June 28. Plan to bring the whole family out to the 2015 Family Water Festival at Fiesta Gardens and celebrate the Texas Colorado River and the water resources that keep Austin flowing. You can start your day by taking part in the Colorado River Ramble, a SUP, canoe, and kayak race for all ages. Then attend the free Family Water Festival from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., featuring over 30 educational booths with engaging activities, presentations, arts & crafts, food trailers, live music, door prizes and more!

— Now in its 38th year, the Cap10K race starts this morning at 8 a.m. for runners of all ages. After the race, be sure to stick around for all of the fun at the Finish Line Festival at Auditorium Shores Main Lawn. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and a new CapKids Zone finish line festival will feature face painting, a petting zoo and a rock-climbing wall. You can click here to register to participate. UPDATE: This event is postponed to May 17. Let’s hope for sunny, windy weather at the Mighty Kite Flight hosted by the Bee Cave Chamber of Commerce. Bring your kites and the kids to this free, community event in Bee Cave Central Park from noon – 3 p.m. You can enter one of many kite contests, enjoy music and food, browse vendors and more.
