— Pflugerville’s most popular festival, the Deutschen Pfest, kicks off today in Pfluger Park and runs through Sunday, May 17. This annual event is always packed children’s games, shopping booths, a parade, live music, a 5K fun run. (Please note, due to rain, the carnival has been canceled this year.) — Head to the Alamo Drafthouse in your jammies for the Moms & Daughters Pitch Perfect 2 PJ Party. Join the Bellas during the first opening weekend of Pitch Perfect 2 and enjoy some onscreen karaoke in the theater after the movie. The PJ Parties take place today at the South Lamar and Lakeline locations. (You can also attend tomorrow at the Village and Slaughter Lane locations.) Tickets are $8.25 plus fees. — Take the kids to The Amazing Indoor Safari at the Backwoods Austin‘s Hill Country Galleria location at 1 p.m. for a show featuring Safari Greg and his amazing animals from Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary. This program will be educational and entertaining for all ages. $5 suggested donation.

Pachanga Fest is at Fiesta Gardens today with a line-up that will have your whole family dancing. From noon – 11 p.m., you can immerse yourself in Latin American culture at this annual Austin music festival packed with arts, crafts, music, food, workshops and yes, lots of moving and grooving to the sounds of tejano, mariachi, cumbia, salsa, electronic, funk, rock, alternative and hip-hop. — The Luci and Ian Family Garden at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is celebrating its 1st anniversary today.  Bring the kids to the Robb Family Pavilion for the celebration from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. featuring free cupcakes crafts, lawn games, and Dino Creek investigations. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children 13 and up, $4 for children ages 5-12, and free for children ages 4 and younger as well as members.

— Families can attend ZACH Theatre‘s children’s play, Cenicienta, today at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets start at $12, and you can purchase them online here or call 512-476-0541 x 1. Our content manager had the chance to see this new bilingual adaptation of Cinderella. Read her review.

— Take the family to The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria where the kids can build recycled robots! This hands-on art-making workshop is geared towards children ages 2 – 11, and you can drop in and create anytime between 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The cost is $10 per family and $5 for museum members.

— Today at 11 a.m., you can check out Austin Scottish Rite Theater’s production, Ashes, Ashes. Read our review to learn all about this steampunk-style show. Child tickets (ages 12 and under) are $8, and adult tickets (ages 13 and over) are $12. You can click here to purchase tickets online.

— This is the last weekend of the West Austin Studio Tour (WEST). Get a sneak peek into the work spaces of some of Austin’s most creative minds from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., when artists open their studios and galleries for people to peruse and enjoy. No admission fees. — Makers, unite, and head to the Austin Mini Maker Faire at the Palmer Events Center  from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. for arts, crafts, science and engineering, food and music. Families can enjoy workshops, speakers, performers and more. One-day tickets at the door are $18 for adults and $12 for kids ages 3-18, but you can save by buying tickets in advance. — Today’s the last day to check out The Big Bolt from Pollyanna Theatre Company, playing at the Long Center at 2 p.m. See what happens when a very big bolt is taken out of its intended place in this play for kids.
