Friday:

— The WorkLAB at the Blanton Museum of Art is an open studio event that invites makers of all ages to explore a range of media used by artists. Drop by to create, engage, and connect through art! All ages, 10 am – 12:30 pm, museum admission rates apply. Children 12 and under are free, adult admission price is $9 and youth ages 13 – 21 cost $5. 

— Pack a picnic and stretch out on the lawn for the 56th Annual Summer Musical – Oklahoma! Presented by Zilker Theatre Productions, this special musical is FREE and will start around 8:30 pm at the Zilker HIllside Theater.

— Stop by Black Sheep Lodge for their Snow Cone Happy Hour where adult snow cones with vodka are just $3, and non-alcoholic snow cones are free! Swing by between 4 – 8 pm to take advantage of this special treat.

Saturday:

National Dance Day at Ballet Austin will be a full day of dance classes in everything from Zumba Fitness, to Ballet, to Modern and even a lesson in So You Think You Can Dance choreography! Classes are from 9:30 am – 5 pm and you should sign up beforehand to assure you get a spot. A donation of $10 is suggested for each class, or you can dance all day for $28.

— Catch a free screening of “Pete’s Dragon” at the Free Kid’s Club at Alamo Drafthouse Ritz at 12 pm. Toy Joy will be on hand before the show playing games and handing out toys for each child in attendance. Movie is first come, first serve, so arrive around 30 minutes early.

— The Archery Classic at Cabela’s will have a youth archery shoot, a 3D target shoot and classes and workshops from 10 am – 5 pm where anyone from kiddos to bow pros can brush up on their skills. Free!

—  Take a 3-hour ride through Hill Country on the Saturday Evening Express aboard the Austin Steam Train. The train will head to the town of Burnet with a 15-minute stop off in Bertram so that riders can see a fully restored 1912 train depot. Tickets are $20 – $40 and you can buy them here. Train departs at 6 pm.

Sunday:

— Enjoy free admission from 9 am – 5 pm at The Wildflower Center for Tribute Day! The Center will be paying homage to their founder, Lady Bird Johnson, with fun programming throughout the day and will have memorabilia on display as well as a silent auction.

— The Summer Soiree at WorkWell will have music from Jane Bond, Walter Tragert and Shinyribs with food, drinks, kids activities and face painting from 12 – 8 pm. There will also be free yoga and chair massages! Admission is a $10 suggested donation.

— The Summer Bash at Ashley’s Playhouse from 1 – 5 pm will have an 18-foot waterslide, free Kona Ice for the first 200 guests and a screening of Rio 2 in the Cinema Room. Don’t forget your swimsuits, towels and sunscreen. FREE!
