With winter weather being so unpredictable and COVID-19 still an unpleasant concern, it can be hard to plan a safe and cozy night out these days. So how about taking your plans back, way back, to an old vintage classic — a movie night out at a drive-in theater?! Whether you’re hoping to schedule a date night with your sweetheart or wish to share a fun evening out with the kids, a drive-in movie provides a little something out of the ordinary for an extra exciting experience.

Austin’s original Blue Starlite Drive-In is rolling into its 12th Anniversary as Austin’s “mini urban drive-in movie theater experience”,  and to celebrate, they are offering some fun giveaways for Do512 readers as well as the announcement of some VERY exciting new drive-in concepts!

A new Blue Starlite location in North Austin will open in late February in collaboration with Garbo’s Restaurant (12709 North Mopac). — New Blue StarBite Dinner Theatre Al Fresco
Another new concept from the team that offers a dinner & a movie ticket option will open February 24 one block south of The Mueller Blue Starlite off MLK. Dinner and the movie screening will be including with your ticket package for a night outside enjoying cult classics, childhood favorites, and new indie releases. There will be different films and accompanying themed menus each week at this BYOB spot. Packages per person start at $25. More info.
