Bug Night Out at the Wildflower Center – Oct. 2, 2015

For kids, everything is more exciting by flashlight — especially hunting for bugs! On Friday, Oct. 2, you can take your little explorers to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for Bug Night Out from 6-9 p.m. Take advantage of this opportunity to explore the Family Garden at night while you hunt for insects on a guided flashlight tour.

From 6 – 9 p.m. you’ll get to enjoy:

  • Mercury Light Stations for viewing insects up close
  • Bug Discovery Stations
  • Face Painting
  • Live Critters on Display with Kendra & John Abbott
  • Bug-themed meals & snacks at the Café

Other scheduled activities include:

  • 6:30 p.m. — Storytime, Spider Walk with Ian Wright, Play the Bat-Moth Game to learn how bats use echolocation to find their food
  • 7:15 p.m. —  Bug Walk with John Abbott, Storytime
  • 8 p.m. —  Spider Walk with Joe Lapp
  • 8:15 p.m. — Bug Walk with Ian Wright, Storytime

The Wildflower Center will have several mercury light stations, which attract some of the coolest critters of the night! Don’t forget to bring your own flashlight!

–> Admission: Regular admission applies: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children 13 and up, $4 for children ages 5-12, and free for children ages 4 and younger as well as members.
