Get a little taste of Bollywood right here in Austin with the Scottish Rite Theater’s production of Little Red Chunari, premiering on Saturday, Feb. 8 with shows at 11 am and 1 pm and continuing on weekends throughout the month. This Indian Adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood is sure to entertain with live music, dance, comedy and puppetry. Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under.
November 2013 saw the opening of the Austin Aquarium, an anticipated addition to the Austin area. Located off of Anderson Mill Rd., the aquarium houses 35 exhibits that feature a wide variety of amphibians, an interactive Lorikeet Aviary and a slew of cold water and tropical fish. There are also sharks, a stingray touch tank and reptiles. We finally had a chance to check out the aquarium, and we’re pleased to announce that it was a hit with us and the kids!
Be magically transported back in time at the fun-filled, charming and authentic 5th Annual Sherwood Forest Faire. Located in McDade, Texas at Sherwood Forest, the Faire kicks off on February 8 and is open 10 am – dusk weekends through March 30. Enjoy games, food and entertainment while strolling through the 23-acre permanent village that features more than 100 including shoppes, pubs, restaurants and stages. Ticket prices range from $10 – 20 at the gate, or you can save money by ordering tickets online.

Texas Parks & Wildlife will stock Mueller’s Lake Park with around 1,200 rainbow trout Sunday, Feb. 2 for the Trout Fishing Event, where you are welcome to keep and cook your bounty. This event will be at the same time as the weekly Mueller Farmers Market and the vendors will offer demos on how to prepare yummy trout dishes and offer complimenting sides.
Gear up and head to Zilker Park on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10 am for the How Do You Roll? & Lifestyle Revolutions Free Workout in the Park. Get some exercise, free swag and maybe even some sushi gift cards. All you need to bring are tennis shoes, a mat or towel, water or even your kiddos. And it’s all free!
