For a whopping 50 cents per child families can experience local musicians, storytellers, dancers, magicians, mimes and craftspeople.  50 cents!! Kids can try their hands at art projects under the Art Tent, experience Ballet Folklorico and Latin Jazz, talk to members of the symphony, and hear them play their instruments. Kids can even follow a real Pied Piper along the Lemonade Trail to the Magic Oak Tree. If you’re looking for a wonderful Wednesday tradition for the summer that doesn’t include hauling kids and coolers through the crowds in the mid afternoon heat, but enjoying the mornings while the crowds are still at work, this is it. Gates open at 9 am.

The Biscuit Brothers from the Emmy-award winning television program produced right here in Austin, Texas will kick off  the Children’s Day Art Park season on Wednesday, June 11. Their shows teach families about communication through music by using a mixture of animation, puppetry and live-action. Their shows are shot at Pioneer Farms and the Scottish Rite Theater in our hometown, so what better way to begin this great summer program celebrating local art?
