Colorado River Ramble and Family Water Festival

Water is one of the central components of life on earth. It also happens to be really fun to play around in. Thus, the 5th Annual Colorado River Ramble & Family Water Festival makes perfect sense. To put it plainly, it’s just a good idea. Seriously, who doesn’t like to frolic around in a nice body of water? Weirdos, that’s who.

The 5th Annual Colorado River Ramble & Family Water Festival is certainly a handful of a name, but that’s because it’s as fun as its name is long. Located in the alluring beauty of Fiesta Gardens, on The Expedition School grounds, the festival has made a name for itself as one of the best aquatically themed events in Austin. It’s all going down Sunday, Apr. 13 starting at 9 am.

Here is a video of the 2010 fest (note this year’s fest will be at The Expedition School, not the Redbud Center):

Beginner and competitive paddlers are invited to race! There are several races to choose from, including a 1K Kids SUP, canoe, kayak and sprint race. There will also be 1.5 mile Family Fun races, Junior races, and 5- and 10- mile canoe, SUP and kayak races. Ages 4 – 11 must paddle tandem with adult except in the Kids 1K races. Ages 12 and older may race solo in the 1.5, 5 – or 10-mile races.

Registration rates range from $15 – $80. Register here. Races will be from 9 – 11:30 am, with an awards ceremony and free demos wrapping up the event from 12 – 3 pm.

Everyone is invited to explore the Family Water Festival during and after the races (10 am – 3 pm)! The fest will feature activities, workshops, music and more, and it’s free to attend.

Best of all, the ramble is benefiting The Expedition School Fund & the Colorado River Alliance. For full details be sure to visit expeditionschool.com. To win a free race registration to this nautically themed extravaganza, Click “I Like It” on the Do512 Family event listing.
