Where to Cozy Up to Cute Cats

There’s nothing sweeter than cozying up with a purring kitten, and even if you don’t have one of your own, there are two spots in Austin where you can still get some stress-relieving snuggle time. This is a great activity for when the weather is hot, or rainy, or you just want to be indoors to get some 1-1 affection and attention from a purrrrfect pal.

At Purrfecto Cat Lounge, you can book a CATXperience to come in and play with cats and hang out in their bright and cheerful lounge space. Purrfecto Cat Lounge works with two cat rescue organizations, the Sunshine Fund, and the Fuzzy Texan Animal Rescue, and has adopted out 789 cats so far!  You can book your experience to just hang with cats, or with the intention to adopt, with no pressure to adopt.  Cat experiences can be booked for ages six and up. Did you know that reading to rescue cats can help kitties get adopted? Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to AHS to read to cats as part of the Rescue Readers Program. Rescue Readers build social skills that help cats find forever homes, plus readers learn about cat behavior and pet care in the process.  Volunteers can come read to cats Tuesday through Thursday between the hours of 12 pm –  6 pm, but you must first download a contract and be sure to read through the informational Rescue Reading flyer.  Email [email protected] with any questions.

Many local animal rescue groups have opportunities for older kids, teens, and adults to volunteer to help. Check out the details of each local nonprofit organization below to see if you can get involved:
