If you’re looking for a place to bring the family and relax, Waterloo Ice House at 360/2222 has it all – a sandbox, shaded tables, a playscape and room to run around. We love it so much that we decided to make it our Featured Family Restaurant of the Week!
We had a Do512 Family hangout session at Waterloo Ice House to do some “work” (drink some beers) and let the kids play. The place was buzzing with families and friends hanging out back, kids zoning out in the sandbox and older kids finding their own fun on the grounds. The playscape is completely fenced in so you could see parents of toddlers doing something they don’t get to do too often, RELAX.
Waterloo Ice House gave us a sneak peek at their new menu (available Wednesday, May 14), which will include fried portabella mushroom tacos and a Farmhouse Brunch Burger, a burger that’s topped with a fried egg and bacon! We tried both of these newer items and we most definitely recommend them. They still have those legendary mini corn dogs that kids can’t seem to get enough of and kids will still get a complimentary ice cream with their meal (be sure to ask for it).
We hung out for nearly two hours and let the kids play in the sandbox with giant dirt trucks, sand buckets and other toys. They made friends and went back and forth from their food to playing, and sometimes, that’s OK. In fact, sometimes, it’s exactly what needs to happen. A weekend afternoon at Waterloo Ice House is a place to just unwind. Let the kids be kids and adults be adults. You can chit chat while they do kid stuff. Win/Win.
Three of the four Waterloo Ice House locations have a playscape: 360/2222, Southpark Meadows and Slaughter Ln./Escarpment Blvd. If you’re looking for a new spot for those lazy days, check out the location closest to you and have fun!
