On Saturday, Sept. 13, head over to the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center at 10 a.m. for Dance Africa Fest, a series of free dance workshops for all ages, presented by Lannaya Drum and Dance Ensemble. RSVP is required, so be sure to sign up before you go.

During the dance workshops, live drumming will accompany participants as they become one with the rhythm and explore various dance styles associated with the region. Workshops will focus on West African, Capoeira Angola, Afro-Caribbean and Côte d’Ivoire dances.

Loose fitting clothing is recommended.

  • 10:10 – 10:35 a.m. — West African Dance for youth
  • 10:35 – 11:35 a.m. — Capoeira Angola for all levels
  • 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. — Afro-Brazillian Dance for all levels
  • 12:55 – 1:55 p.m. —  Côte d’Ivoire Dance for all levels
