Are you the parent of a serious shredder? Are your kids all about playing and appreciating the fine art of Metal? Well, the Austin School of Rock has got you covered this summer. They are kicking off the Rock & Roll Summer Camps with a free one-hour Metal Workshop for ages 8-19 on Saturday, May 30 at 11 a.m., headed up by one of Metal’s OGs, Jason McMaster.
“A Metal Round Table with Jason McMaster” will cover exploring vital guitar riffs pertaining to heavy metal, breaking down the the history of heavy metal, and even debating classic metal vs Nu-Metal. If that wasn’t awesome enough, when you register for this free workshop, you also get a 15% discount off Metal Summer camp!
While the Metal Workshop with Jason McMaster is free, you must pre-register. To sign up, simply fill in the School of Rock contact form and include “Metal Round Table” in the comments section.

Metal Camp is for serious shredders who want to excel at melting faces, designed for intermediate to advanced musicians, ages 9-18, who’ve had a minimum of 6 months of music instruction. Students work in a hands-on atmosphere that includes:
- Learning the nuts and bolts of live performance
- Studio/band rehearsal time
- Individual and group instruction from highly skilled SoR staff
- Music theory and Rock & Roll music appreciation
- Interacting with other young musicians
- A LIVE rock show performance for your friends and family!
- Having fun!
Camp is held Monday–Friday, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with the performance on that Friday evening at a local live music venue (to be determined).
