The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is hosting another year of free family fun this summer! Their annual Nature Nights series is back every Thursday evening this June, encouraging families to head out and explore the native plants, animals and ecology of Central Texas in a beautiful setting.

Nature Nights will be a bit different this year — instead of group activities, families are invited to pick up an activity kit  from 6-9 p.m. (while supplies last) for a DIY experience at the Center.  Activity kits will come complete with everything you need for a fun adventure including materials and instructions for crafts, scavenger hunts and activities that can be enjoyed both at the Wildflower Center and at home. Supplies are limited and activity kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis to those who reserve a ticket online in advance.

–> Nature Nights Schedule & Topics:

June 3: Stepping Back in Time
Find out what the Wildflower Center’s site was like beginning in prehistoric times and how it has evolved. Learn about the creatures that roamed the earth during this time and which indigenous peoples once called this land home.

June 10: Into the Night
Explore as the sun goes down and learn about the critters that wander and what flowers bloom in the light of the moon. Take a moment to look up and see if those stars at night actually are big and bright.

June 17: Sunflowers & More
Celebrate the Wildflower of the Year: the sunflower! A flower so beautiful that it’s been the inspiration for artists around the world, much like Van Gogh. Stand tall among the sunflowers as your family explores the Wildflower Center and learn just about everything there is to know about our native wildflowers.

June 24: Pollinators on the Go
During National Pollinator Week you can learn all about the special role that pollinators play. Get to know your favorite pollinators and meet some new ones along the way.
