Let your kids travel the world this summer without leaving Austin! Globetrotter Kids is a program developed for kids ages 6-11 that presents active, hands-on learning about about other countries and cultures. Geography, history, language, art, food, music, and, most importantly, the people of specific areas are discussed and taught through art projects, games, and other hands-on activities — all with the goal to promote global understanding and cultural respect.

Our Do512 Family kiddos have all been enrolled in Globetrotter Kids, and we can’t say enough great things about this program!

This June, you can choose from two different Summer Camp sessions with Globetrotter Kids held in central Austin at Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow Ave, Austin 78757. Each camp is one-week long, running from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday – Friday. The cost is $265 per student, per camp.

–> Camp Session 1: Peru & Spain
June 10-14, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • For Peru, campers will study the masks of indigenous Peruvians such as the Inca with children creating their own Pre-Columbian mask. Textiles, very important in Peruvian culture, will also be discussed with students creating their own weaving.
  • For Spain, campers will examine the Cubist still lifes of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and create their own Cubist still life. Campers will also have fun creating their own surrealist landscape collage and drawing inspired by the imagery of Spanish artist Salvador Dali.
  • This camp will also include a tapas party (with campers making everything!) and a Flamenco lesson!

–> Camp Session 2: Morocco & France
June 17-21, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • For Morocco, campers will examine the country’s architecture, especially mosques, and create their own architectural drawing and mixed media design. Campers will also study beautiful Moroccan tiles and create their own tile-inspired prints.
  • For France, campers will look at the art of famous French artists and styles including Impressionism and Pointillism. Students will create paintings inspired by the styles of these 19th century artists.
  • This camp will also include a lesson in making French pastries and a visit from a henna artist!

–> Sign up for one or both camps online here!
