Gorgeous Glamping Experience at Collective Hill Country Retreats

When’s the last time you had a peaceful getaway without kids? A very rare occurrence! In search of a much-needed break, we planned a Moms-only trip to the beautiful Hill Country town of Wimberley, Texas. With such busy family schedules, we knew we could only really get away for a night, so we made plans for a Sunday fun day that included a luxury glamping experience at the most perfect destination to relax and recharge — Collective Hill Country, a Retreat at Montesino Ranch.

Collective Retreats offers fancy tent accommodations with amazing culinary and wellness experiences, and a way to connect and celebrate nature. They have locations in Colorado, Montana and New York, but their Texas spot is just an hour’s drive from Austin on the expansive Montesino Ranch in Wimberley.

Instead of opting for a hotel or traditional resort, we wanted to find somewhere to really get away from it all in a most peaceful setting. Being surrounded by such a beautiful natural landscape, we were able to fully unplug and enjoy some quiet moments. The Collective Hill Country gives you the feeling of treating yourself to a 5-star vacay in a unique way.

The tents are amazing! There are 12 luxury Summit Tents at Collective Hill Country, and they are each tucked away into separate areas, providing optimal privacy. Each is decorated in such an adorable way, with full beds and fine linens, cute rugs, rustic furniture, and the best part — a full bathroom with a shower! Each tent also has a private deck for lounging under the big Texas sky.

On the property, you can enjoy dining and happy hour at the Three Peaks Lodge. The retreat’s executive chef Ezra Lewis, was gracious enough to chat with us about his farm-fresh gourmet cuisine and was most accommodating in coming up with some fantastic vegan options for us. In addition to daily breakfast and lunch, Collective Hill Country offers a BBQ experience or a five course chef’s tasting menu. In the evenings, you can get a complimentary s’mores kit and enjoy some time around the campfire. Every bite we had was delicious! While winding down was certainly a priority, if you wish to do more than eat, sleep and read in the many hammocks on the property, there are plenty of ways to stay active during your getaway. Take a scenic hike or horseback ride along trails of the ranch. Enjoy morning yoga sessions and in-room massage. And for a fun little activity that provides a keepsake to take home, try the bubbles & branding in which you can brand your own cutting board while sipping some sparkling wine. Our experience was just the perfect combination of rest and fun! It’s an ideal spot to get away with your spouse or friends for some calm moments. However, if you wish to bring the kiddos along, there is a Family Suite option that includes a tent for you and an adjacent tent for the kids. During our stay, we noticed some children on vacation with their grandparents, and it looked like they were making wonderful family memories together!
