Whether you’re a work-from-home parent or a PTA mama who’s got to plan the next fundraiser with your committee, working with the little ones by your side is not always an ideal scenario. Here on the Do512 Family team, we just happen to have great flexibility in our work location — bouncing between the office and home hours. But we know that often when we sit down at the home computer, our sweet little kiddos cry for “Mom, Mama, Mommy!” many times before we can finish a deadline.

So, what to do? We’ve scouted out many coffee shops, indoor bouncy house places, libraries and more, but one of our favorite spots to work while the kids play happens to be Hat Creek Burger Company.

With free WiFi and playgrounds at all of their locations, this is a good spot for us to set up the computer within good view of the play area, enjoy some tacos and coffee in the morning or burgers, fries and salads at lunch, and let the kids play while we get some tasks accomplished.

You’ll find that weekday morning hours at Hat Creek are generally nice and quiet. It’s a great spot to meet up with co-workers or other parents, too. If you’re in need of a place for a whole team of folks, you can even call your local Hat Creek to reserve a table in advance — free of charge.

There’s great reason why Hat Creek Burger Company was voted “Best Kid-Friendly Restaurant” in Austin Monthly’s recent reader’s poll. This locally-owned restaurant really does love supporting parents while giving kids a place to have some fun during mealtime. You can check out any of their area locations — Westlake, Burnet Rd., Georgetown, Round Rock, The Domain, Buda, Lakeway — the next time time you need to get some work done and keep the kids happy.
