8th Annual Head for the Cure Virtual 5K

To ensure the safety of supporters, especially those who have weakened immune systems like brain tumor survivors, the 8th Annual Head for the Cure 5K is moving to a virtual event and celebration.

Join this tribute to those fighting brain cancer. Your participation this virtual event will help raise much-needed funds for research and programs at Texas Oncology-Austin Brain Tumor Center and the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative. Not only that, you’ll also show support and hope for the local community of brain cancer patients, while celebrating their courage and spirit.

With your help, you can assist the Head for the Cure Foundation in their mission to…

1) Build Awareness for a disease that is not widely known and needs advancements in therapy to help patients.

2) Raise Funds through a virtual event to support clinical research and programs.

3) Ignite Hope for all who have faced this disease.

What Does a Virtual 5K Mean?

  • Join a Facebook Live Event! Head for the Cure Central Texas Founder, Sarah Shrader, will run a 5K route, and we will follow alongside her the entire way. After Sarah’s run, Executive Director, Jenna Heilman, will virtually award the top fundraising awards and also honor the Keeping the Faith and Legacy of Love recipients. All plaques and awards will be mailed to the recipients.
  • What To Do That Morning? Follow the event on Facebook Live and participate in your own 5K! Whether that’s running on a treadmill, walking in your neighborhood, going for a swim, riding a bike or other physical activities following social distancing guidelines, you can show your solidarity to Sarah and others who have been affected by brain cancer.
  • Where to Get Shirts and Medals? A two-day packet pickup will be held on Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th at Texas Running Company.
  • How To Help? Encourage registration and donations! Our grants for clinical research and patient programs to Texas Oncology – Austin Brain Tumor Center and the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative come from our race revenue. We can’t make an impact in this fight to find a cure for brain cancer without YOU!
